When you use CatanForge, we may collect the following information:

• Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication provider (Google, Facebook, or email/password). Passwords are securely hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
• Custom Maps: If you create custom maps, we store your map configurations, names, descriptions, and custom rules in our database.
• Usage Data: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as page views, button clicks, scenario selections, and general interaction patterns. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
• Local Storage: We store preferences (tile view mode, tutorial status, map configurations) in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the CatanForge service
• To allow you to save and share custom maps
• To display public maps created by other users
• To improve the site based on usage patterns
• To respond to contact form submissions

3. Third-Party Services

• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics (G-B1NRM765MK) to understand how users interact with the site. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
• Google AdSense: We display ads via Google AdSense (ca-pub-4037172883087594). AdSense may use cookies to serve personalized ads. See Google's ad policies.
• Google Sign-In: If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and name from Google. We do not access any other Google data.
• Facebook Login: If you sign in with Facebook, we receive your email and name from Facebook. We do not access your friends list, posts, or any other Facebook data.
• AWS: Our backend runs on Amazon Web Services (DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway). Data is stored in AWS US-East-1 region.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share data as described above with our service providers (Google, Facebook, AWS) to operate the site.

5. Data Retention

Account data and custom maps are retained as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time (see our Data Deletion page).

6. Cookies

CatanForge uses cookies for:

• Google Analytics (usage tracking)
• Google AdSense (ad personalization)
• Authentication tokens (stored in localStorage, not cookies)

7. Children's Privacy

CatanForge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
